So... one month ago, we were relaying our glad/sad news that, we had missed our support deadline, but we were still doing fantastic support-wise, at 77% monthly support.
Since then, this month has been a crazy roller coaster!
Here is the cliff notes version:
We have been feeling like we're low on leads to follow, meetings to schedule, churches to speak at, etc. It's been a frustrating feeling, since we're so close. Yet, I (Jeremy) have been feeling that I should relax and trust God.
Then, our refrigerator died, and we lost 90% of the food in it.
At the same time, our van started having serious issues, and we had to take it in to a mechanic -- where it still is today.
Needless to say, we were struggling quite a bit, trying to figure out what to do with these issues, how to make ends meet, have transportation to work, appointments, etc.
Family day at the Bellevue Berry Farm
In the meantime, an amazing opportunity popped up out of nowhere to speak at a wonderful church, Spirit Life Assemblies of God!
Then we received word that we can begin on our visa application process (yay!).
Then our wonderful-amazing-incredible families stepped in and helped us through our refrigerator/vehicle woes.
Working on the Japanese visa paperwork was more difficult than it should have been, due to the fact that we seemingly lost some of the documents they were requesting! 5 hours of digging through boxes and turning rooms inside out, though, and SUCCESS - we found them!
Right in the middle of all of this crazy, we got an email -- "Congrats, You're at 91%"
A few days later, another email update -- 94%!
Can you believe this little pumpkin is 1 year old? She's running everywhere!
That same morning, Melissa came back from her small group, GLOWING -- we received another supporter out of nowhere!
Time and again, a verse returns to my mind which I feel has been true for us again and again this past year. In Exodus 14, the people of Israel, newly freed from their Egyptian masters are congregated at the Red Sea, and seeing Pharaoh's chariots coming, they start shaking in their boots and start yelling at Moses.
"Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
This year has been a LOT of work. Yet... I have no illusions. The biggest jumps and leaps have had everything to do with what God has been doing, rather than us. He fights for us, and works on our behalf.... and let me tell you - it is a HUGE relief!
- We would specifically appreciate prayers for our vehicle that it would be diagnosed, repaired and in good condition to pass on when we leave.
- Please also pray that the visa application process would go smoothly and expediently. We've been told that it can take in excess of 8 weeks to complete, and we would really like it to not take that long... :D
- Finally, please pray for peace for us as we begin working on sifting through and getting rid of 90% of what we have once again accumulated over this past year. It's never an easy process!
We love you all and are incredibly grateful for your prayers and support.
