Wow, so long without an update here! Some of our updates are more sensitive than others, so not all are posted publicly. We hope that you have received our email update that we sent out recently, if not please let us know by email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Month Out and Home Assignment
We have “just” finished our Month-Out (that is, about 20 days ago). We stayed with an amazing team in Zanzibar! Our time with them was awesome! We stayed with 2 couples on the team for about 2 weeks each, and we observed and learned a lot from the them. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the team, and learned SO MUCH!
For several months prior to our Month-Out, one of our most constant prayers was for God’s guidance in what we are supposed to do next… and God really answered our prayer while we were on Month-Out! He gave us guidance, and direction, and so although we don’t have any plans set in stone, we are moving towards what we feel he is calling us to…Japan! But, since we know that we are called to be in the field long term, we really don’t want to get stuck in “home assignment limbo”, because we don’t know how transition between organizations will go. We want to hit the ground running, so to speak. We recognize that we will need some rest after this 2.5 years in Africa, but we also want to keep moving toward what God has for us next. *Please keep this in your prayers*
We are going through the process as quickly as possible on our end, and trusting that God will take care of the rest. We are hoping to be leaving for Japan not later than January 2017!Yet for this to happen, we will need to spend the majority of our time raising support full-time, which means that Jeremy would not be able to seek out employment during this period. This is a fairly normal situation, however, and we will continue to receive any support sent in for 6 months following our arrival in the States, as part of our home assignment after our 2.5 year term.
Here is what we need in order to make ends meet:
- If you are currently giving financial support, please consider continuing to give until October 2016. This will allow us to get back on the field as soon as possible!
- We need to either borrow or buy a vehicle for our time in the States. If you have any ideas please let us know by emailing us at email@example.com
- We cannot raise support with our new organization until we are fully accepted. So, keep your eyes peeled for future updates, and PLEASE keep this in prayer! We will keep you posted as best as we can, and will send out the details for sending in support for our time in Japan as soon as we have them.
Finishing Strong in the Islands
Our team is finally all back together! After month-out, we all got back, and it was so good to see everyone’s faces, and hear their stories of their time away. It’s also been so nice to see all of our amazing friends here in the community once more.
We currently in the beginning of the final unit of our term here! We always start with 2 weeks of focused language time. And then we have only 8 weeks left, until we begin the journey home. We are taking this time to finish up curriculum, finish helping the local English teachers here, have some important final conversations with friends, and preparing ourselves to leave. This will be an extremely busy time as we try to do all that we can to prepare ourselves and the islanders here who we have been working with for our departure.
We are so so so excited to get home to see our family and friends. It has been over 2 years, and we are getting excited to share our adventures in person. We can’t wait to see you!
We love you all, and know that we could not be here without your support, love, and encouragement.
