Forever Excited

Forever Excited

I love the “always be a learner” attitude. I’ve always loved school, the classes, all the new things to learn. And I can’t even describe how excited I am, getting ready to go into a new country, and learn! Learn a new language…learn a culture…learn to dress differently…learn to haggle at the market…learn to cook new foods…

We have already learned so much in this time of preparation. We have encountered His patience, His timing, His provision, and His faithfulness in very new ways as we have been preparing, and, as He has been preparing us. And we know our Father, so much more now than we did even 1 month ago.

In this past year and a half that we have been getting ready to go to Africa, there are 2 (more than just these, but these are what I felt like writing about) specific things that the Father has been teaching me.

1) We have done as much as we can to raise support, and that process is one that will stay with me, reminding me to trust in the Lrd, to wait on His timing and His faithfulness, and not to relying on myself! This is His plan, we partnered with Him. John 15:4-5 says, “4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

2) It’s easy to trust and rely on God when things are easy, and life is going how you want. But when things get difficult, as much as I want to trust and have faith, it is a conscious choice I have to make…because I’m not very good at waiting. I always want to take it upon myself to solve the problem, or work harder to fix what’s wrong. But I can’t. My prayer often becomes the prayer of the boy’s father in Mark 9:24, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”

I am so excited for what is in store for us over these next 2.5 years (the first of many) in Africa! I am excited to finally meet our amazing teammates and team leaders…I am excited to meet all the people we will be doing life with, the relationships that will form and grow…I am excited to watch my daughter (my husband and myself), discover, and wonder at, a whole new world…I am excited to learn about a new culture while living among, and serving, the people there…

But the thing I am most excited for, is to gain a deeper heart knowledge of who my limitless Creator is. I know His love, and yet I want to know more…I know His grace, and yet I want to know more…I know His mercy, and yet I want to know more…I know His provision, and yet I want to know more…I know His faithfulness, and yet I want to know more…

He is always teaching us. And I am excited to sit at His feet forever.
